Tape aint gonna fix it honey

I am currently obsessing over The Dead Weather album Horehound, specifically Alison Mosshart's vocals, and subsequently her wardrobe. Slouchy faded band tees, printed cardigans or flannels and skinny jeans topped off with silver jewlery seems simple enough. Being a legit rock-star give the look that last bit of je ne sais quoi. Showing up to a day job dressed like this would probably come off as less rock-chic, nobody needs their coworkers thinking they have come unbalanced. I have a party to go to this weekend, and you can bet your pyramid-studded Chuck Taylors that I will be channeling Ms Mosshart's look.

FIERCE

Christian Siriano for Payless, courtesy of The Cut. Those boots with the teal lining and gold heel, and the oh-so-Rodarte pumps with chains and spikes and patent, oh my! Brown and teal are not generally in my color pallet but the shape of the heel and the color contrast and the spikes are so perfect I will find a way to make it work. I am torturing myself falling in love here because they will not be available until fall so I really ought to stop drooling on my keyboard but this made my Monday.

Shame Shopper

I am a shame shopper. I bought these shoes back in November, and despite the fact that it has been 80 degrees here in the banana republic of the States, these still felt too bright for winter and too festive for my 2 weeks of vacation (being on vacation is about getting away from being yourself, I transformed into a sloth and spent more time watching reruns of the Golden Girls in my PJs than is probably healthy or normal). So, the story goes, I relegated these lovelies to the back of my closet, where they still remain in the tissue, in the box, IN THE NEIMAN MARCUS SHOPPING BAG. Yes, I confess, I was embarrassed about buying pricey shoes that I had no intention to wear. (Acceptance is the first step!)
Now, I believe their time has come. Partly because I finally have a legit reason to go out this weekend, but mostly because I am worried they will get sick of all this fuckery and leave. That's right, my shoes are going to up and go to find a life of scandal and intrigue they were truly destined for. Sit tight pretties, photos of these lovelies in action to come!

Once Upon a Time a.k.a. The Birthday Story

Okay, so a little known fact about me: I have been lying about birthday since I was 8. I don't mean just lying about my age (which I do, religiously, I have been turning 21 for years) I mean I have been lying about the actual date of my birth. It is January7th, and after my family did Christmas and Hannukah and then New Years Eve parties, the thunder was sort of stolen from me. So, long story short, I negotiated with my parents to have my birthday in April in order to not get crap the was left over from Christmas regifted for my birthdays. It worked out well, after I did that I never again received CDs my mom forgot to wrap at christmas or other regifted nonsense.

SO, enough rambling, I have compiled a list of things that I have been eyeing for the 25 year old version of me.
Lace knuckles by Etsy seller EMCJewelry. Delicate, ladylike lace, dipped in silver and turned gothic and weapon-like and dangerous. The idea of a girly set of brass knuckles seems so sexy and unique and Daphne Guinness-esque. Love love love!

YSL Tribute Booties. And also her leather skirt with the zipper is really cute. And since I am asking, the secret to perfectly tousled hair. How do some girls do that? I always end up looking like I had an unfortunate run in with a light socket. YSL shoes, j'adore. No need to elaborate there. (pic from TheSartorialist)

Givenchy Nightingale. I am not a handbag girl, but this is quality enough, and versatile enough to go with almost any outfit, quality enough to last foreverand never go out of style so I dont have to go handbag shopping again for a long time .

I am such an accessories girl. Any kind folks who want to make these wishes come true between my real birthday and my fake birthday (April 7th), I can promise eternal gratitude and a pretty thank you card.

Other wishes: The economy to get better so I can go to Paris to visit my grandmother (It is crazy what the dollar/euro ratio does to one's budget), and maybe a FABULOUS new job editing and writing full time.

Thanks loves! Have a spectacular New Years Eve!

E to the Bay

I have a problem. The first step to recovery is admitting it, so I will just come out with it. I spend more time shopping on EBay than is really healthy or necessary. It is like hunting for the modern world, I stalk certain brands or descriptions, I track them while the bidding progresses and at the last minute of bidding I hit that lovely little "Place Bid" button and 7-10 days later I have some shiny new thing at my door. Oh EBay.

Anywhatever, I found this Pierre Cardin vintage gold collar that I can not afford (thank Christmas for stealing all my money) but this is too precious not to find a nice home. Go forth and bid!

This is going to be an open forum for me to talk about the lovely superficial things in life that make me smile (clothing, jewelery and shoes) and to bitch about the less fun stuff (it is my blog and I will bitch if I want to!). Hope that everyone got EVERYTHIGN they wanted for xmas, and that you are all as excited as I am to make 2009 FABULOUS!
